CML cannot pay the crisis priceThe CML administration has preferred, like always, to explain to its adherents each step it intends to follow, especially when it is concerning its relation with the adherents, for its belief that an intimate relation exists between us which we were able to build together through the sole family, “the large mutual family”.One of our principles upon which we founded CML is to conserve the price of the hospitalization cost in order to stay in reach for all the civil society classes in Lebanon. However the unprecedented raise (Table of raise) which occurred on the hospitalization cost in Lebanon, and which we can only understand a part of it since the hospitalization institutions have abstained from increasing their prices over the past few years, in addition to the increase in wages and salaries and the foreign currencies specially the Euro (Most medicaments and equipments are imported from Europe), all of this accompanied with the increase in fuel cost and the continuous current interruptions.Certainly, there are some exigent causes that impose the increase of the private prices on hospitals, especially when we advocate the continuous development of our hospitals. This is what we aim to specifically when this sector has become remarkable in our Middle Eastern neighboring, and this is what motivated the Lebanese people in all around the world to come back to their native nation seeking hospitalization. This positive fact of our hospitals refreshes and comforts us in a country where negatives have multiplied. We advocate the promotion of the hospitalization tourism just like many countries in Eastern Europe where patients seek hospitalization or surgical operations and dentistry, while benefiting from tourism in our beautiful country. This is what we hope our country will become - a Middle Eastern center for such services. The purpose of this subject is our will to maintain the good level of medical care, but what hurts us is this giant raise which we hoped and still hope the hospitals shall reconsider it because the limited income Lebanese citizens cannot afford it at one time, therefore it has to be gradual and taking into account the possibilities and capabilities of the Lebanese citizen in order to assimilate it as we cannot limit good medical care to the capable ones and restrict it on others. We remember the CML debut when the insurance policy cost was far from the true cost and when the Lebanese citizen became unable to purchase this service many hospital escapes happened because of the inability to pay the bill for its high cost and in some other cases families were asking to keep their deceased relative in hospital as they were unable to bear the bill.I am afraid these memories shall revive and wish they will not. I state all of the above to say that in such circumstances we founded CML because the confidence was missing between the hospital and the physician and the insurance companies seeking each their own profits careless and unaware that hospitalization has an economic and social aim, the insurance company cannot see in it a commodity for sale according to supply and demand, nor can the hospital or the physician should see in it a benefit opportunity. We call for such a permanent partnership in order to avoid this dangerous slippery leading all to disaster because we are all on the same boat, and this is the difference between the mutual funds and the insurance companies. From here we can see that the CML should not pay the price of the crisis and consequently we call the hospitalization institutions to refer to the CML unique experience in terms of its independence and self management, for it did not merge with the Administrative companies’ cartel in order to exert pressure on hospitals, thus subjugating them, nor in the exclusive prices to oblige citizens with moody prices that can rise up or down to eliminate competition and applying the principle of “Big Fish eating Small Fish”. We therefore call you to understand our role which has to be the indicator of the hospitalization prices through balancing between cost and selling prices which can achieve effective partnership based on a social mutual principle thus a balance between the economical worries and social worries which can provide citizens social security. We shall struggle in CML in order to be understood by our partners (Hospitals and physicians) and till then we are forced to apply such raise, surely not in the same percentage which exceeded 100% sometimes, but we worked on not making it exceed 13% for the current year while confirming that we shall not economize in providing the services nor renounce in serving the adherents who remain the provisions of the mutual works and the capital of CML, in order to keep on as the address of the independent mutual activity in Lebanon while committing to work continuously with the hospital owners in order to make them understand us and project our unique status.
C’est avec une grande joie que je m’adresse à vous chers adhérents, à travers ce site que la CML a tenu à mettre en place bien que quelque peu en retard, mais tout cela dû à des raisons tout à fait involontaires.
